Naturopathy is a system that combines theory (philosophy & principles) with practice, aimed to promote the body’s own self-healing mechanism to bring about balance or homeostasis. This is achieved through the healing power of nature and the use of various natural resources and treatments which help to enable this process.
Naturopathy is something of an ‘umbrella’ term in that it covers a wide range of modalities. Each Naturopath is likely to have their own unique set of skills. At Woods Way Wellness this includes phytotherapy (herbal medicine), nutritional therapy, food as medicine, mineral therapy, homeopathy, flower essences, massage & Reiki.
No two clients are the same; they may present with the exact same set of symptoms and diagnosis, but the approaches to achieving success will be personalised. In order to meet your individual needs, many hours will be spent outside of consultation time designing a bespoke treatment plan that will support your journey back to well-being.
The initial consultation includes 1-1/2 hours of discussion and clinical note taking, including personal and family medical history, current physical, mental and emotional symptoms, previous and current medications, diet and sleep patterns. We will also discuss your goals, expectations and your own Personal Story.
Diagnostic tests may include any or all of the following: blood pressure reading, blood sugar test, blood oxygen saturation, mineral deficiency tests and naturopathic analysis. For those clients with more complex challenges or those wishing to fast track diagnosis, allergy, metabolic and genome testing are available through external partners.
A follow up call, text or email will take place 3-5 days after your initial consultation to discuss your bespoke treatment plan, to allow for any questions or to share any further information or concerns that you may have. Often clients remember key facts later. There has never been a better time to invest in your health and your future.
My initial assessment with Lucinda was so different from any other consultation I’ve had. She listened carefully to what I said and was genuinely interested in my replies. I realised that she was taking me seriously and that took away a lot of anxiety I’d held. I was beginning to doubt myself and had been thinking my condition was all in my mind because of the way my consultant speaks to me. I now know there is something wrong with me but I also know there’s a lot I can do myself to help.

Naturoapthic Consultation
THE SIX NATUROPATHIC PRINCIPLES
FIRST, DO NO HARM
A Naturopath will choose the most natural, least invasive and least toxic therapies.
Referral is an essential part of Naturopathic practice if clients needs are beyond my scope of professional practice.
THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE
A Naturopath identifies and utilises the body’s innate wisdom which seeks to return to homeostasis.
Treatments are chosen for their potential to harness the ability for the body to heal itself.
IDENTIFY AND TREAT THE CAUSE
Through questioning and listening the Naturopath identifies the root cause of imbalances.
Bespoke treatments will be aimed at removing blockages to well-being and restoration of health.
NATUROPATH AS TEACHER
A Naturopath will seek to educate their clients on how to take responsibility for their own health.
It is our role to empower clients to embrace a future of well-being that can often lead to long term, positive changes.
TREAT THE WHOLE PERSON
Naturopaths treat the patient, not the disease. However symptoms may be alleviated whilst finding the root cause.
Physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors all help identify appropriate treatment.
PREVENTION IS KEY
Taking all of the Six Principles of Naturopathy into account, a picture of the individuals health pattern is established.
The client will receive guidance on how best to ensure health promotion and sickness prevention.
